MILWAUKEE TO HOST TALL CLUBS INTERNATIONAL WEEKEND
Milwaukee, WI– September 29, 2014
Members of Tall Clubs International from the US and Canada will be in the Milwaukee area for the Tall Club of Milwaukee Weekend. This year’s theme is “Party Animal House”, including 3 days of activities, featuring 2 DJ dances, a charity fundraising event and an awards banquet. The events will be held at the Best Western Plus Milwaukee Airport Hotel and Conference Center at 5105 South Howell Avenue Milwaukee, Wisconsin from Friday, October 3 through Sunday October 5, 2014.
The Tall Club of Milwaukee has a long history in Milwaukee dating back to the founding of the Milwaukee Toppers Tall Club in 1947. We are affiliated with Tall Clubs International (TCI), founded in 1938. It is a not-for-profit community service and social organization for Tall People. There is a network of 44 chapters across the United States and Canada. Men at least 6’2” and women 5’10” and over, enjoy camaraderie with fellow members while advocating for the needs of the taller than average statured individuals. They devote time to spreading awareness to transportation and retail manufacturing industries, as well as educating the general public to the medical dangers of Marfan syndrome.
The TCI Foundation, Inc. is an affiliate organization of Tall Clubs International, founded in 1992, houses a scholarship program which grants scholarships to tall young adults under the age of 21, seeking their first year of higher education. A fundraising raffle for the TCI Foundation will be held during the Friday evening dance on October 3, starting at 8pm. The event also includes an afterhours party.
The group will be visiting various attractions in Milwaukee on Saturday October 4. An awards banquet and dance will be held Saturday night followed by another afterhours party.
The special guest of the weekend is Miss Tall International, Hannah Eko. She is the national spokesperson for Tall Clubs International since being crowned in July at the 2014 TCI Convention in Washington, DC. Hannah is a member of the New York City Tall Club. As a commissioned officer in the US Coast Guard, Hannah currently is Assistant Chief of the Waterways Management Division for Sector New York. She also chairs the unit’s Leadership and Diversity Advisory Council. Hannah will be touring the Milwaukee County Zoo with one of the groups on Saturday from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
